History
PEKER Group has been acting within the sectors of construction, energy, real estate and management since PEKER Construction Trade and Industry INC (PEKER Construction), its principal company, was established in 1974. Since its inception, PEKER Construction had successfully completed contracts of irrigation systems, ports, dams, huge scale waste water discharge channels and collectors, infrastructure systems, natural gas pipelines, pump stations, military airports, residential buildings, huge hangars, warehouses, tourism facilities, water and waste water treatment plants, water and waste water networks, and all kinds of superstructure works. PEKER Construction takes pride in providing constructability, cost effectiveness, schedule accountability and long term value on the projects of its clients.
In addition to being the main company, PEKER Construction is the driving force for investing in other sectors. PEKER Construction, which has transferred its experiences derived from the construction sector to the other sectors, is currently preparing for celebrations of its 35th Establishment Anniversary in cooperation with its eight subsidiaries. In addition to construction contracts completed corresponding to USD 750,000,000 in aggregate to date, PEKER Construction has also undertaken and completed investment projects including several dams and hydroelectric power plants. Having realized numerous projects throughout Turkey, PEKER Construction aims to put into pipeline its experience gained through decades to expand globally starting with the immediate markets of the greater Middle East and Asia. At home, on the other hand, PEKER Construction’s goal is to grow further through execution of signature projects of a larger scale and of distinguished complexity.
PEKER Group’s subsidiary SUPEK was established in 1990 primarily to meet engineering requirements of PEKER Construction. In time, it evolved into an independent business unit under the umbrella of PEKER Group addressing the ever growing demand for quality engineering and consultancy services within Turkey. Today, SUPEK provides engineering and consultancy services to various organizations in both public and private sectors for virtually any project involving water and infrastructure. SUPEK’s high calibre team of engineers apply the experience gained through over two decades to deliver reliable and realistic solutions appropriate for the specific needs of its clients in terms of constructability, cost-effectiveness, quality and sustainability.
PEKER Group, headed towards energy investments as Turkey is experiencing an energy deficit on the supply side. In line with Turkey’s national policy to address part of domestic energy gap through development and utilization of potential hydro power and upon government’s launching of regulations to maintain involvement of private sector, it has managed to increase its annual electricity production capacity to 260,000,000 kwh on the basis of seven energy licenses granted to it as of the beginning of the year 2011. PEKER Group has focused on diversifying its investments in the energy sector. This includes investments in renewable energy resources namely, wind energy and solar energy in addition to hydro-electrical power plants.
PEKER Group also provides high quality services through the chain of production to the end user and performs wholesale of electric power through its subsidiary PEKER Electric Power Wholesale Incorporated Co. founded in 2010. PEKER performs electric power production, wholesale, resale, importation and exportation. Electric power is purchased solely from production plants utilizing renewable energy resources. This signifies the fundamental policy of PEKER in endorsing effective use of country resources and establishing piers of its vision to preserve and deliver these resources to subsequent generations.
PEKER Group founded its recent subsidiary PEKER Surface Designs (PSD) in 2010. PSD produces high quality quartz surface coverings and claddings under the trademark of Belenco at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities of 14,185 square meters located in Manisa, western Turkey. The facility has an annual production capacity of over 550,000 square meters in various thicknesses. Belenco is intended for a variety of uses such as counter tops for kitchens, bathroom vanities, flooring and wall claddings. Finest quartz surfaces with exceptional beauty, strength and durability combined with a strong feeling of art and inspiration ensures a product that is far superior to any kind of natural stone. PSD has thoroughly focused on an international distribution network in order to be available worldwide at strategic global locations.
As part of PEKER Group’s diversification strategy, another subsidiary PEKER Catering provides meals for approximately 7500 people in refectories and cafeterias of TED Ankara College, the oldest and one of the most reputable private schools in Turkey. These refectories and cafeterias were constructed and are currently operated by PEKER Joint Venture on the basis of Build-Operate-Transfer Model.
In addition to its above activities and goals, PEKER Group aims to develop residential and commercial projects within the real estate sector. PEKER, which continues acting in a progressive manner for the purpose of developing Class A office areas and projects of all-purpose residences, gives significant importance to provide reliable and comfortable living and working areas for its clients.
